To me it reeks of helplessness of addiction. Everybody boards the boat thinking it'll be fine and they can handle the sea, then when a storm comes and the waters get choppy and a rogue wave hits, you can only beg to be taken home as the sea has its way with you.
The whole album seems to start with happiness and brotherly love and outrageousness, then the album touches the core with Captain before spiraling in on itself, leaving behind songs of vapidity and concluding with a hyper real and heartfelt "If You Could Save Yourself".
