I see this song as being about a relationship, possibly one that's gone wrong. The person moved away, and now the singer is hoping that his next relationship (or, perhaps, a second chance with the aforementioned relationship gone wrong) doesn't end as poorly.
On a personal note, this song strikes me in the heart, especially because I have a guy I'm crazy about who doesn't feel back for me. The real kicker is that he lives off of the 400. So whenever I hear this song I remember all the times I drove with him to his house, back when he felt something for me.
