While I do find many of the other interpretations plausible, I think this is about a relationship that is falling apart because there is no longer a motivation to keep it together.
Relationships are a two-way street, and will ultimately fail if only one person is putting forth effort. I think Angus is singing from the perspective of someone who still cares about the relationship. He is begging his partner who is giving up the fight to "draw [his/her] swords". He is giving all that he has to make things work and to talk about issues and unresolved conflicts, but his partner no longer cares enough to fight back and work things out.
