My 17-year old daughter is currently in rehab, and for me it speaks to the vulnerability and depression that often goes with girls that age. They are not yet adults, not yet sure of how to become the women they want to be or how to live with integrity and make the changes that need to be made and have few coping skills. But it's easy to see their massive potential....

My Interpretation

@valleycat you hit the nail on the head. every time this song comes on the radio it makes me sad for my son who had a suicide attempt late last year. don't know why it reminds me of his struggle so much - but decided to google the lyrics. still makes me sad but "glad" another person has the same basic interpretation I do.

I'm that kid, the one who hurt themselves. 17 going on 30 and smoking cigarettes without an ID. I promise at 21 I won't know myself, maybe not even 26. But I'm here and I'll make it through it it and I'll be better than you imagined. I just needed you to tuck in my shirt and see my potential and snap me back into my senses.
