For simplicity i will refer to them as the "good" and "bad" sides, and refer to his actions as the third.
A majority of the song, the speaker tries to encourage himself to get past his fears that the bad side would tell him to embrace. His good side speaks to him and influences his actions to be progressive for a happy and successful life.
