I think this song is pretty straightforward, with the last verse being perhaps the most subliminal of all. Its pretty much about living in a world where there is a constant threat of worrying about your future, worrying about your status, being concerned about people talking about you and being concerned that you live on a mundane street with a house that is not as impressive as someone else's. Then, in the middle of all that, you look to what makes you happy, where you find your comfort, and all that other stuff doesn't really seem that important anymore. In this case, its the beauty of nature and the comfort of the person he is with. If he can have those things, who cares what else is going on? I think that is such a refreshing idea. The last verse is a little more difficult to understand. Perhaps he's saying that he could have that life that everyone else hold in such high esteem, with the nice house in a nice neighborhood etc., but would rather be where he is.
