A truly relatable song that Broods have done a fantastic job on. I think it's just talking about the fear of growing up, the fear of moving on from childhood, and how scary and confusing and disorienting it can be. The mention of the mother and father as well as home projects an image of childhood memories, and the fact that she can't picture their faces too well "their faces start to fade...they're slipping through my hands" is the horrifying realization that your past is exactly that: the past. You can no longer run to your dad to open the pickle jar, or have your mother take care of you when you're sick. It's a terrifying realization, because you (usually) have no one else to rely on right after you leave your parents, hence the "I don't want to wake up lonely".
It's stepping out into the world, finally alone and independent. And instead of taking the "i'm so confident and ready for this" outlook, Broods have taken the "holy shit this is terrifying" alternative look to the situation, which I think is great, because everyone feels that at least once in their life.
