Different translation... really tough to do, and I fully acknowledge that there are multiple possible interpretations, but here goes:
The seasons bloom unseasonably, overflowing with no end
Screwing around again, over and over like before
When the ivy has quietly spread its roots
The scenery reflected in our eyes will pass away without a sound
Shooting for somewhere far away, trampling the memories behind me
It’s not that I’m sad, but I’m not happy either
I don’t have the power to figure out the meaning in the blink of an eye
But only the brilliance ran off to yesterday
Just like a spinning merry-go-round
Forgetting the pain, we go around
Without yet knowing our destination
We go on
It’s just that, for example,
Even the fragrant, dazzling aroma of ripe fruit
Colors one season and then
Quietly withers and falls
The ivy winds around, the body rots away
Fragments of memories return to the earth
They’ll become flowers again
Like a merry-go-round & round
Let’s meet again in the spring
The flowers we should have appreciated, that we couldn’t see at the time
Now they tilt their heads in confusion in their place in the sun
Nevertheless, they are gently smiling
Around and around
Blinking in the depths of the pieces of memory
Tears and rain are absorbed by the sand
Go around, quickly, even if you crumble
Even if it causes you to fall in vain
Don’t wait for the moment,
Go around, Hurry merry-go-round
Even if life swallows you whole,
Let’s meet again in the spring
Let’s meet in the spring
Let’s meet in the spring
I think this is a more hopeful song than most translations give it credit for... there are no pronouns in the lyrics. None at all. I've chosen to translate everything as "we" or "you" as in "people in general," because there's nothing here that sounds personal, and not general, to me. It's extremely hopeful. Was hide's death a suicide? Very possibly. He was definitely an alcoholic, and possibly depressed... but was THIS SPECIFIC SONG intended as a suicide note? I don't think so. I don't think any of his songs were, and I don't think his death was planned. Whether it was an accident or not, I can't imagine that he was actively planning to leave his album half-finished and die that particular night. hide brought a lot of hope to a lot of people, and I can't feel anything but that hope from this song in particular.
