also to add to my comment below .maybe you can see it as believing something out of fear..that whole conscience part sounds like it's talking about Bush's mind..you can put it in that context and it kinda makes sense..or maybe believing in something wrong yet you don't want to believe so..so you keep getting farther away from people and truth believing in this idea you have.
