This song is probably one of my favorite songs by The Civil Wars. Recorded on an iPhone or not, it just has this really heartfelt beauty to it.

One of the best things about this song is that it uses the line, "That's how it goes". The singer seems to accept the way things have gone for him, not because he's moved beyond it, but because he knows "that's how it goes". Sometimes you get dealt a shitty hand in life, and there really is nothing you can do to change that.

Also, "You always said you want me to be happy, but happiness is having you here with me" is another great set of lyrics.

This entire song could be seen in two ways, in my opinion. It could be seen as a person writing to someone they had a relationship with who left them, or it could be to a person who had died. Either way, they don't know where to send this letter of theirs.

This song right up there with Poison and Wine, and My Father's Father for me. I kinda wish more people liked it as much, but still, it's a great piece.
