I heard a tip on this one and it makes complete sense. This is Bono voicing the conscience of a defrocked pedophile priest/bishop. The priest goes about his day but in his head lurks evil contemplation. Bono reinventing himself as mephisto again. Absolutely genius. Zeitgest hook line and sinker for the scandals of the church/churches, captures everything succinctly in a pop song. Wow. Dangermouse's production and Edge's solo make this absolutely spine tinglingly good/chilling. Someone else's suicide, someone else's pain, red eyes, maybe this evil character is going to knock himself off. They went very deep here but for me too it was the best rack, now that I uncovered the meaning it's tragic. Agree with the previous poster, dirtylemons, 100%.
