Cover art for Una Paloma Blanca lyrics by George Baker Selection, The

Back when this first came out, it was all over the radio. So where is George Baker today? (He's still active and touring tiny clubs in Europe.) Anyway, this song is about a guy who is free-wheeling and looking. He's like "screw the rules, I'm going to be carefree." What the lyrics don't tell you is that a female voice repeats the first verse and chorus at the end. Therefore they're also saying women shouldn't care and just be free as well.

I heard in an interview that Hans had to fight to get the song on the record as the producer thought it was just too much fluff and sickening sweet to be on the record. As part of a compromise, they added the verse near the end where a woman is singing. Also, for those of you who don't speak the language, "Una Paloma Blanca" means "A White Dove." It's really about throwing off the chains of duty and responsibility and living it up, presumably on a weekend.
