I think, it's about someone who has experienced broken heart. time will heal him/her up. Imo, he/she needs time to let his/her ex go, briefly I call it as a process. Maybe 'mechanical heart' refers to his/her numb heart after breaking up, then he/she can feel nothing, also he/she finally knows how to 'forget' his/her pains as well with ignore or act as if nothing hurts him.her
