Lyric discussion by weirdcreepgirl

Okay this song is about Eels suicidal sister but I am just going to describe my interpretation of the song: "Laying on the bathroom floor", this person has just committed a suicide attempt whether its from pills. Cutting etc...and is laying on the bathroom floor waiting to die "Kitty licks my cheek once more", pets usually can sense when something is wrong with their owner so kitty is confused or curious to what is wrong with the owner and "once more" probably means the kitty keeps licking the owner waiting for a reaction from him/her "And I could try, but waking up is harder when you want to die", okay so this line is representing what and why the person committed suicide. This person knows that life will get better and can give their life one more try but the pain is too much when you just can't go on no more, and waking up everyday knowing there's nothing good to life, along with the same routine gets tiring. "Walter's on the telephone", to me this can either mean two things:

  1. Walter is a family member or friend who just found the person who committed suicide lying on the floor barely alive, so he is on the telephone maybe calling an ambulance to come rescue this person who is dying or..
  2. Maybe somebody named Walter is calling the person who committed suicide but since the person can't obviously pick it up he/she gives him the interpretation that he/she is not at home, nothing out of the ordinary which goes to the next line "Tell him I am not at home", since this is connected with the other lyric above it can also mean two things:
    1. Like I was saying Walter just found the person who committed suicide and the person is probably saying "I am not at home " like saying I am not coming back home because I am expecting to die and go some where other than earth
    2. Like I said above he/she gives him the idea where everything is fine and she can't pick up the phone because she's probably not at home but he doesn't know she just committed suicide "Cause I think I am going to a place where I am always high", this line describes the person thinking whether they are going to heaven, hopefully they can he/she is wondering if they would be forgiven for what they have just done. And the second line "I'm going to a place where I am always high", the placer where he/she is describing is probably heaven high like up in the clouds and "where I am always high", a place where they will always be happy. "My name is Elizabeth, my life is shit and piss", okay so I think this line is pretty basic. The person which is now identified as a girl (it can be a boy I mean if there are boys with the name Elizabeth, fine by me) is describing her name and her life which is garbage and worth nothing and is as valuable as shit and piss. It can also mean like I said she probably arrived at the hospital and you know when they ask you what is your name and stuff : this is probably her response of her name and why she killed herself Otherwise I love this song there so much meaning with such little words and you can just feel the pain. Love you Eels
