I think it's about mental disorders, especially bi polar, I think the song could be about the mania part of bi polar.
The hallucinations, inflated ego, and the risky behaviour is more noticeable when the highs are higher and the lows are lower.

It's hard to do things when your in the low parts but in the high mania motivation is a lot easier to find.
