I think this song could be about leaving a relationship and finally realizing the other person's faults- "Did you ever ride a bear for me?/Did you ever really care?" (this is shown throughout the song).
Its almost like the narrator is trying to reassure him/herself that it was always their ex who was the problem, although subconsciously they still remember how much they loved their ex- "Like I cared for you". Also how they miss them and care for them- "Don't run little rabbit run".
The narrator is also thinking about how they did so much in the relationship, and their ex was so lazy- "Did you ever ride a bear for me?".
