The slip really shows Trent growing up and changing, and even though he felt strongly about things when he was younger, there is more maturity now, which I am really get into now that I am getting older too. Whowouldathunkit.
This song is about the responsibility that comes with being either famous, rich, or powerful. When he was younger, he didn't understand this, neither did I. We all want the big easy. gravy train, but that's not how it is. When you are successful, other people think they owe you something, or if you're in the public eye, then people think they know you, who don't, and that is where it gets existential, maybe he even began questioning who he is, although I think it really has to have to do with his 'status', which is why you get huge celeb break downs, because they don't know wtf is going on. So here's his advice man, keep your head down, (Although it's too late for Trent).
