He is so depressed he's drowning in his own thoughts and can't mentally hear anything

He feels hopeless because he can't get out of his downward spiral, and is begging someone to help him

He feels like his soul has been deformed by his depression

He asks someone to wait 'till he comes out of that state of mind

He's asking for their forgiveness because he has done, or is about to do, something terrible

I'm scared to get close, and I hate being alone

He's afraid that, if he gets close, he'll be hurt by that person, but he doesn't like to be alone
