I think that this song is about when you're in a bad place in your life. You're depressed or you're going through a tough time. "If your days are now just something you must bear."
And the singer is saying that maybe we're alike (everyone is going through a tough time.) Everyone is constantly having a problem. Maybe something is changing (as life does) and you don't like it. And maybe it's on your mind a lot. But listen up, because it gets better!
Tomorrow you might wake up nice and clean and it might turn and wind up just the way we dreamed!
So this change in your life, this problem, may be a blessing in disguise!
Overall, I think this song just gives you a feeling of "together-ness".
Everyone is going through a problem or a change and we can either get bogged down by it or make the best of it. And, since I first heard this song through Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer, I must mention it. I feel like it's a group of people together. They're all going through their problems, they're all trying to make the best of what they've got. And I feel like they're all lifting each other up. Trying to make everyone else feel better by recognizing that, yes, your head is an empty box and your heart has become spare parts... but we're on our way.
We're on our way to be with you.
We might not be able to fix it (that comes with time and thought and courage) but we'll be there through it with you. :)
