In my opninion this song seems to be about a very personal realisation and acceptance of her sexuality? She's known the clues ("sights"/ "sounds") for a long time but never really confronted them until this relationship with a guy has come to an end...she noticed how little the end of the relationship actually effected her and she's trying to distance herself from him as much as possible to work out this realisation that she has "buried underground for years"
I think its about sometimes accepting that you need to be alone to work your own shit out, that at the end of the day no one else can tell you who or what you are...
