I think the song is about a bad relationship where only one party in it thinks it's bad. The narrator is oblivious to how bad it is, and is desperately trying to block out any signs that things could be going bad to keep up their own illusion that things are fine ("Don't make a sound/It throws me off"). The narrator is so deep in the relationship that they can't entertain the thought that things aren't what they should be. The end of the song is the narrator being told directly that things are wrong, but the narrator is now purposely avoiding the issue ("She sways over to me, pointing overboard, But I can’t see nothing/She sways over to me, she’s still going on, But I can’t hear anything.") This one really spoke to me this morning as I sadly identified with the narrator.
