Ok, i've heard several versions of this song. and none of them has a "the" before Seif Al Din and there shouldn't be because it's actually a name. A name of many islamic leaders apparently.

as for the interpretation i think the lyrics are crystal clear they kinda say it all
it's not about fundementalism. It's about people who twist the words of holy scripts to try to justify their actions thus gaining power. and they do that by taking one part out of context and ignoring the rest.
