Had a feeling it was about the dangers of arrogance... Then it seems to hint that society encourages arrogance (masquerading as confidence/bravery). "Exalt yourself, Do it to stay alive." Then "everything you know is not enough to survive" saying you can be intelligent but it is not as important as dedication to your beliefs no matter how ludicrous.
