I see this as saying that if you are going to accomplish anything in your life (or embrace your destiny) you need to step out of your comfort zone or move on from your past etc. this requires sacrifice and can be dangerous. I think the song talks about embracing the risk and stepping out because its worth it. You don't truly live until you let go of the things that are killling you. This is what it means to me personally. I also feel as if the song refers to people who love to live on the edge and eventually they may have to make sacrifices to do so.
