I think that these lyrics are really about someone who is in a relationship with someone,but truly loves someone else. And, is lying to the person that they are in a relationship with, because they don't want to hurt them. But still wants to end it because they want to be with someone else. They are willing to stay with the person they are in a relationship with, and love the person they want to be with from afar. But don't want to do anything love -related with the person they are in a relationship with.--- Just my interpretation.
