The movie is basically a Romeo & Juliet story, much like I've heard the first one was hamlet.
This song is at the point where Romeo(or, Kovu, in this case) was banished for killing Tulio.
Now that I'm older and read these lyrics, I feel more sad than when I was a child watching this. The way Simba and the other animals are so unforgiving...
