I found this song not that long ago, somehow I was looking up some info about some 20th century conflicts/wars and I randomly found this song and put it on, and it really resonated because I realized a sense of being lost about what to do with the legacy people my age and younger have inherited from previous generations. The saying goes "respect your elders," but a lot of our elders were racist, sexist, out of touch with reality, and dominated by a government which loved every bit of that and reinforced many biased ideals. So since we often can't look to "our elders" for answers about how to deal with life today, where DO we go for answers? Where CAN we go? Is there anything we can do to fix previous generations' mistakes that they've left us with? Did they really give a crap about us at all? It's incredibly frustrating to try to figure out what to do once you realize authoritative figures are imperfect, confused humans just like you, me, or anyone else.
