I think that this is about his family. He is scared that they may forget him. He is scared because the blinding lights of fame made him lose sight of them momentarily and he feels so guilty he cants breathe. He tried to bring them back something good but he couldn't. He just wants to make them proud and he wants them to understand this. But he will never ignore them again.
The sleeping alone thing is coz he probably has to sleep in a hotel room alone a lot of the time. is not the same as sleeping under the same room as your family. it is definitely not about a dead person.
