Not sure about the meaning, but it sounds like Pete's talking about someone who's close to him but he hates him. (Are you part of them, or are you part of me? Then he says the jawbreaker stuff). "One ugly inner child" gives me an odd feeling that this might be a kid. o.O just my thoughts!
Sounds to me like he ran into an old acquaintance with whom he ended on bad terms. "one ugly inner child," to me, means this person is immature and basically a bad person. :))
