From my perspective this song is about someone growing old and feeling trapped in an industry town. A town that was once thriving but is now struggling. The mines closed, the oil dried up and the industry moved away. Nw you have kids growing up here not knowing any differently. To them it's not a struggle because they didn't know good it was before. They just see it as one big playground, surrounded by a close knit community.
