I think its about a friendship with a very thin line that was blurred out for one of them a long time ago. I think it's about wanting something more that isn't gonna happen. Every time that they somehow start letting go, maybe the other person shows affection or does something that doesn't make him or her want to leave this platonic relationship because of the slightest hope maybe it will finally turn to something more. I really love this song. Just my interpretation.
