I think this song is about two people who have a history and are both having trouble letting go of each other completely.
"Words trip like untied shoelaces" - They're trying to tell each other how they feel but it comes out all wrong.
"Still you're worth falling down for once in a while" - My favorite line, the hope that something could still be there even though they've been down this road before
"And I'm disinclined to admit with you and I, this could be it. Something tells me that we'll know before too long" - They don't want to admit it's really over, but when they crash and burn again they'll know.
"Are you really going out there on your own? These tangled lines all come undone. How did it feel when you let go?" - Possibly the reason why they first ended their relationship, someone had to leave for a job or a different life. The "tangled lines" was their relationship unraveling.
"You try your luck in your best suit, tied to a broken parachute." - To me, the broken parachute is the relationship that's ultimately going to fail.
"It's the hole in my heart you fell through" - Pretty self-explanatory, even though they had to let go of each other it still hurt them.
"Tried reading tea leaves and the stars in all the day we were apart" - She tried to look for some sort of sign that this relationship would work.
"Maybe my mind wasn't made up, but I chose love" - They wanted to see if the relationship would work even long-distance although they both had their doubts.
"Still I'm inclined to admit, with you and I this could be it" - I like this because unlike the previous disinclined, it's the opposite, showing the indecisiveness at this stage of the relationship.
"These failed predictions kept us wondering all the time" - Possibly predictions from others about whether or not the couple should try long distance
This chorus is just slightly different, which is awesome because it shows time passing/how things are different this time around:
"And now you're out there on your own
These tangled lines all come undone
Tell me how it feels letting go
You try your luck in your best suit
Tied to a broken parachute
It's the hole in my heart you fell through" - These people still feel something for each other even though now separated.
