Weird, I always thought this song was about the futility of blaming others for your own mistakes and the various avenues people turn down to escape responsibility for their own actions and who they are.
Or in some roundabout way the idea of someone's nature (ie DNA) vs what they learn from others (So what's nurtured, you could say).
Either way, the song seems to have the message of "stop making excuses and be who you want to be," or maybe "Don't overthink it, just be yourself"
The only thing that doesn't make much sense to me is "Earth girls are easy"...which to me just makes me think of that cheesy old Jeff Goldblum movie. If that's actually the reference I'm not sure what it would imply though.
