This song is, to me, about the same woman in One Man Drinking Games. Only this is their relationship now, and OMDG was about their last night together before he/she left.
"She's got all my dreams
I've got these broken things"
He only has his dreams (being in a band, never being home, always on tour) to give to her, and she only has broken things (her heart, that he broke in One Man Drinking Games when he left) to give to him. So, essentially, they give each other their all...but their all isn't much to give to each other.
"If you think this was easy
You're wrong."
On track with OMDG, where he claims "Knowing that for someone you're an angel sent to save" and he drinks to that, knowing she'll be happy, or at least be with someone that isn't him.
("May I say I loved you more?")
"And we both know I loved you more."
Yeah. You tell her. Even though you broke her heart, ya jerk.
HOWEVER....One Man Drinking Games was a fictional song, so I'm assuming this one is too. Nice tie backs to it, regardless.
