The first thing that came to my mind when I heard this song is my family. As I've understood from the lyrics, it's been about what happened to me/my family. Speciallyto my dad, I'd have to admit that you've changed and now I feel like I don't know you.. So, yeah here it is

It says that what if she's not there, maybe it won't much. it's you're really hurting about what happened around and maybe if that didn't happened you don't have to pretend that you're alright, like everything's all right.
