So if I am not too late with the reply I think this is about a person who is lost and lonely in the world full of people. Here this world is represented by the tobacco smelling coffee bar. Many people stay there for just a little while to have a coffee and have a read of newspaper, but no one seems to think of anyone... even of themselves. Our protagonist feel lonely and he feels sour... He is dreaming of someone whom he can open his soul to, or even just give his body, even for an hour or for a night... Just to fill this gap in his soul. But thoughts like this very soon leave the same venom and the same sour taste in his mouth as the bad coffee he just consumed... The one night stand won't solve the trouble and he understands this. World full of loneliness and desperation... You see, the hero even admits or notices the strange looks the bartnender throws at him. So there is a place in this world for the negative type of attention, but not for the warmness... That is what I think Marc wanted to convey in this song.
