This song in comparison to the rest of the album is rather strange. Whereas the majority of songs (if not every song preceding) are introspective and depressive/bleak, "Smoking Room" ends on a note of hope. The last verse,
"The world is frozen now,
It glitters, sparkles and shines",
is delivered in such a way that it conveys a sense of there being a light at the end of the tunnel or hope at the very end. This almost contradicts the lightless, sombre moods of the tracks coming before it, but in a way makes it a perfectly fitting end to such an album.
