Actually - I think that the song is loosely based on the movie "Psycho". Paul seemed to have been a pretty big fan of the film - he once called Tony Perkins his favorite actor, and the string arrangement for "Eleanor Rigby" is pretty clearly based on the "Psycho" soundtrack. (It may have been arranged by George Maritn, but Paul had input, too.)
It just seems to have a lot more in common with Norman Bates than with John Lennon. : ) "Momma don't worry, your Teddy Boy's here, taking good care of you..."
