I went to college in the fall of 1976. It wasn't a great year for me, internally. Externally, all was a great big party. It is now 2014, and I am cleaning up a few things. I found a handwritten copy of the lyrics to Crossroads, that I wrote in 1976. Complete flashback to the struggles I was pretending not to be having as a college freshman that Don McLean had grasped so fully in these lyrics. Timeless, to be sure, as I am now at a new crossroads in my life and this poem is still as relevant and moving as it was 38 years ago. Life does come full circle, does it not?
