I think this song is about a person questioning everything. Always. And it's a problem for the person because he or she isn't able to live in comfort. Everyday is a challenge. And the person is an "evolutionary sleeper", because he/she doesn't find any answer for those questions but the person is still searching all the time instead of searching for a solution of these thoughts and the problem behind.
"A circle sits outside a door" maybe he or she tries hard to live in a world of "one's" own.
