I read this online and thought it was bizarre. Regarding, "Tam bo li de say de moi ya, Hey Jambo Jumbo." Lionel Richie called his friend at the United Nations to get some "African phrases." His friend was incredulous that Richie seemed to think there was one African language, when of course there are many, many languages and dialects spoken on the continent. So since he didn't have time to hire a translator, Richie made up his own gibberish "African" language phrases.
This is one of those songs that makes me feel really nostalgic for elementary school, when it was always on the radio and MTV.
