Prince (or the song's protagonist) really comes across as a sweetheart in this one, doesn't he, refusing to take advantage of a woman on the rebound?

The lyrics are sad but the tune is very dancy and upbeat, which is a juxtaposition I always enjoy in pop music. One of my very favorite Prince songs.
