"Goodbye" is about saying goodbye to religion. "Vow...God...old ways (religion)...stories (Bible)...down on my knees...talk about a sell...heavens...you get what you deserve (religious authorities and their ridiculous pronouncements, like going to hell))...easy life, peaceful death (instead of the religious life). Then to cap it off is the "ecstatic" musical conclusion, going to show that ecstasy is not necessarily related to religion, or spirituality, but can be found in the joyously lived life.

“Ecstasy” and “just a little bit warm” is exactly how I feel every time I hear this song. In fact, ever since I bought the 12" single back in ’92.
