Cover art for Lillian lyrics by Dear Hunter, The

casey writes most of his songs metaphorically from what I've been noticing.

The girl seems to be stuck in a rut of bouncing from one guy to another, while the writer knows that that lifestyle leads to a sad ending. The woman lives her life day to day bouncing from one cheap thrill to another, apathetic to the mess she makes. She forces a smile to convince herself that she prefers this to looking for the true loves she believes will fall apart inevitably.

The writer sees her sad lifestyle catching up to her fast and he wants take her away from it and sweep her off her feet feeling as though "shes not living the life that she's worth".

But in the end shes afraid to trust her heart with anyone as she knows it will fall apart like the rest. No matter how passionate the writer is about her he's just another man she's trying to catch the eye of, cutting the relationship off as a fling instead of a relationship.

she dosn't believe it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. something painful is worse than having nothing at all.
