This is probably one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard. My favorite is the version John Sebastian sang at Woodstock, but I also love the Spoonful's studio version. And seek out Mama Cass's version -- it's spectacular.
It strikes me that it's far too rare to find a love song where the praise is being directed at something other than the loved one's physical attractiveness. I love that he's looking forward to the conversation he'll have with her when she gets home.
