What a fantastic song. It's excellent how when Guthrie offers to help 'fix up' a new God, this God is the God of the Bible, much more so than the god underwriting violence. The following lines could be taken as a beautiful amplification of the commands to humanity in Genesis 1: "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
