I do not believe this song is about God (probably because I am an atheist). To me, this song is about death of a loved one who wants to remind you that they are by yours side even though their presence is not physical. On the other hand, this song could be about not necessarily losing someone through death, but about being far away from someone you love and miss for a long period of time.
This song brings me to tears almost every time I listen to it. It is beautiful and comforting and the lyrics are just incredible. This song is so calming. It's like a gentle reminder that the ones we love are with us in our hearts all the time, even though they may not be there with us physically.
