Resentment Lyrics

I pretty much feel like this song is about Anthony being afraid to be honest and open with one or both of his parents. He's afraid that if he expresses who he truly is or what he truly believes, they'll judge him or begin to view him differently. So instead of expressing these things he just "bites his tongue" and he'll "never say" how he feels because he's afraid.

I love the line in the chorus "how is it that we're the same blood?" To me that's Anthony questioning like "how can I call you family if you don't accept me? how can you say we're the same blood?" And the following line is my favorite in the song "sometimes it's hard to accept when you lose the saddle not the horse." I think that line is a really creative way of saying it's not easy to accept when you lose control over one of your children, but not the child itself. Lose the saddle (the control), not the horse (the person). And then he goes on to express how hard it is to live resenting his parents for behaving this way.

I feel like the rest of the song is pretty straightforward though. One of my all-time favorite Circa songs. I hope they get around to re-recording it and doing an official release for it.
