I think in this song the singer is God talking to believers about how many of them misinterpret and abuse His wishes.

This seems to denounce the Christian belief that if they confess their sins, they will be forgiven no matter what. It's easily abused. Also the common religious belief that we should be good people so we can get into heaven, not just for the sake of being good people. The line "How you'll look on that day." sounds like it's probably referring to the day we die and our fate in the afterlife is decided.
