To me the song is about the music industry so the 'Bad Boy' lead singer of a metal band is just a nice boy who smokes and has probably failed to take care of his mental health hence busted up and broken down. The song is a womans perspective on how 'boys' puff themselves up as big baddass men when Nina and Louise have lived the badass life from 1992 on, but don't need to puff themselves up.
